Hey, I’m Althea

They say that every step in life leads you to the next and I wholeheartedly believe that.

After graduating from college with a degree in Fashion Design and struggling through early careers that left me unfulfilled, I knew I needed to start my own business and I did! From painted furniture, to painted signs, which led to scroll saw cut logos and signs, I picked up the skills and confidence along the way to encourage me to reach higher, which eventually led to the inception of Riveted.

And if you’re thinking that the jump from scroll signs to cabinetry is a big one, well, it was.

In the beginning, I was learning basic skills along with navigating and mastering basic tools. Self taught, my parents instilled in me at an early age that I am capable and I know that I can convince you of the same.  Of course when I was younger, their version of me being capable was often in reference to doing certain chores, like shoveling snow when I tried to pass it off to my brother, but the essence of their words ring true. I believe that I am capable of tackling what I put my mind to, I can do hard and scary things. I’m constantly learning, growing, and yes, sometimes failing forward.

The empowerment I feel after completing a project is my “why” and I knew I needed to share this with others.

And so, along came Riveted Academy.

Oh, and since you’re getting to know me, I confess:
